The Rum Runner cocktail is a classic rum-based drink with origins in the Florida Keys during the Prohibition era. It is a sweet and fruity cocktail that typically includes dark or spiced rum, banana liqueur, blackberry liqueur, orange juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine.
The cocktail gets its name from the rum runners who used to smuggle rum from the Caribbean to the US during the Prohibition era, and who would mix it with fruit juices to mask the strong taste of the rum. The Rum Runner has since become a staple of beachside bars and restaurants, enjoyed for its tropical flavors and easy-drinking nature.
